We’ve Been Accredited

In June 2016 the Centre was again accredited with GPA Accreditation Plus under the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practice.

Before our accreditation with the RACGP we have achieved accreditation with the Quality Improvement Council for more than four accreditation cycles. In our 2009 accreditation review for assessment against the QIC standards for accreditation, LWCHC was recognised as having exceeded in four areas:

  • Leadership and management
  • Risk assessment and management
  • Confirming consumer rights
  • Philosophy of women’s health

In addition, the Centre was commended for its:

  • Program for Women Partners of Bisexual Men
  • Comprehensive orientation program for new Board members and staff
  • Women & Depression study
  • Development of a Transgender policy
  • Feminist philosophy based on the social model of health

Organisational Structure

The centre’s organisational structure comprises:

  • the Board of Management comprising six skilled women from the community, the manager and a representative appointed by the staff in an observational role
  • the manager
  • the business administrator
  • team leader, and
  • staff who include general practitioners, a nurse, counsellors, naturopath, acupuncturist, lymphatic drainage massage therapist and health educators.

The Board establishes directions and outcomes for the organization, and is responsible for ensuring its continued financial and legal stability, and the manager is responsible for the operational running of the organisation.
