Leichhardt Women’s Community Health Centre is a community-based, not-for-profit women’s health centre providing low-cost medical and complementary health services.
Services include:
- General practitioner & women’s health nurse clinics
- Acupuncture
- Naturopathy
- Alcohol, tobacco & other drugs counselling
- Assessment & referral counselling in English, Vietnamese and Chinese
- Groups to develop personal skills
- Talks to community groups & health professionals
- the state-wide Women Partners of Bisexual Men Service (informaiton, counselling and groups for women partners of gay/bisexual men in NSW)
Recently developed partnerships, have added an in-house:
- Medicare-registered psychologist
- Therapeutic massage therapist and
- Counsellors to assist women experiencing domestic violence and the effects of childhood sexual assault
Services are conducted in the welcoming, women-safe environment in Leichhardt and in community venues in Sydney’s inner west.
Run by women, for women - 2009 is the centre's 35th anniversary as the first women's health centre in Australia.
